Watchlytes Primary

Creativity, Inspiration and Achievement

At Wathclytes we use Charanga to support our music teaching, this is an online music scheme provided by Herts Music Services with lots of visual aids and interactive resources to support your children's learning about music. Our children love using our new set of glockenspiels, percussion trolleys to take part practically in classroom music lessons. Take a look at our music curriculum overview below to find out what units your child will be covering in music this year.

Year 4 children also have the opportunity to learn either the guitar during their whole class music lessons. This is a fantastic opportunity and often leads to children taking up individual music lessons for that instrument.

All children also take part in a Key Stage singing assembly once a week where they learn songs  related to the season or important festivals. At Christmas Key Stage 2 invite parents to join us for a Christmas sing-a-long to share the songs we have been learning KS1 put on Christmas show and EYFS put on a nativity play with lots of singing and dancing.

To support our music teaching and provide engaging opportunities for our pupils, we often invite guests into our school. As well as having guests into school we also take groups of children out of school to take part in music activities. We have taken place in the Virtual Big Sing.
